Are you looking to hire an anthropologist, or an anthropologist seeking employment? Are you a section wanting to give mentoring sessions, or a member seeking mentoring?

The ACE Showcase booths at the Annual Meeting are designed for engagement - to bring together employers and job seekers for in-person interviews, and sections and members for mentoring sessions. This year, the Annual Meeting will be held in Baltimore, MD from November 17-21. The ACE Showcase will open on Wednesday, November 17 and close on Saturday, November 21.

Engagement booths are exclusive to Department Services Program (DSP) partners and sections only. If you are not a DSP Partner but would like to join to secure a booth, click here. There are 6 booth spaces available for each day. Employers and sections will have the option to have the booth hourly or all day. Booth numbers will be assigned on site.

Booth Registration Opens: August 5
Deadline to Reserve a Booth: October 31

Job Seeker | FAQs

Q. Will I be able to set up an interview with an employer?

A. Job seekers should not contact employers directly to set up interviews. If you are interested in a position, follow the instructions in the employers job posting. They will then follow up with selected applicants in advance of the meeting to set up interviews.

You will have the opportunity to apply online for job positions at the ACE Showcase. Please feel free to block out some time during the annual meeting to apply for any open positions.

Q. Will I be able to arrange interviews at the meeting?

A. You will not be able to arrange interviews unless an employer plans to hold open interviews during the annual meeting. Open interviews may be listed on the interview schedule or you may check in-person at the ACE Showcase.

Please be aware that very few employers conduct open interviews during the annual meeting. All employers listed on the interview schedule (unless indicated as open interviews) are scheduled interviews with pre-selected candidates.

Q.  Should I bring my CV?

A. We recommend uploading your resume on the ACE: Anthropology Careers & Employment job board and applying online for open positions so that employers at the annual meeting may search our database of resumes, review your qualifications, and determine if your qualification meets their needs.

You will have the opportunity to apply for job positions posted on the ACE: Anthropology Careers & Employment job board at the ACE Showcase for a chance to interview with employers who are conducting open interview sessions. Feel free to block out some time during the annual meeting to apply for the open positions.

Q.  Do all interviews take place in the annual meeting ACE Showcase?

A. Yes, for safety reasons, all employers conducting in-person interviews at the Annual Meeting for jobs listed in ACE are required to conduct those interviews at the ACE Showcase. If an employer contacts you about scheduling an interview at another location, please contact membership so that we can work with you to find a solution.

Employer | FAQs

Q. I have a position that I want to interview for at the annual meeting. How do I find job seekers?

A. Employers must first post their position on the ACE: Anthropology Careers & Employment job board and contact job seekers of interest to see if they plan to attend the annual meeting.

Q. I posted my ad on the ACE job board. When will it be posted?

A. Your ad will be posted within 24 hours (Ads placed after 3PM EST will be posted on the next business day). Candidates who request job alerts will receive a daily digest of new job postings.

Q. How do I set up an interview with a job seeker?

A. Employers are encouraged to contact candidates in advance of the meeting to set up interviews so that both parties can arrange their interview schedules along with meeting itineraries.

Q. Will I be able to arrange interviews at the meeting?

A. Yes. Employers are encouraged to speak with as many candidates as can be reasonably scheduled. Please indicate on the reservation form if you are interested in open interview sessions or visit the interview center at the annual meeting. Job seekers are encouraged to visit the ACE Showcase to see if there will be any open interviews scheduled.

Q. What are the ACE Showcase hours?

A. The ACE Showcase will be open during the following times: Wednesday through Friday 9AM - 5PM, and Saturday 9AM - 2PM.

Q. I reserved an interview booth at the annual meeting but I don't see a booth number assigned to my institution.

A.  To reduce confusion and to allow for onsite adjustments, employers will be assigned to their booth during daily check-in at the ACE Showcase.

Q. When should I solicit letters of recommendation?

A.  Solicitation of letters of recommendations should occur only after an initial screening of candidates to minimize any inconvenience.

Q.  Can I review CVs onsite?

A. We encourage applicants to upload their resume to ACE: Anthropology Careers & Employment job board. If you are interested in reviewing CVs, please sign in to the ACE Job Board and conduct a resume search. Employers with an active job post can search resumes for free. Those without an active job posting must pay a fee.

Applicants are encouraged to indicate that they are attending the annual meeting so that employers may connect with them in person.

Q.  How do I arrange an interview with job seekers while I am onsite at the meeting?

A. We ask that employers reserve open interview sessions in advance of the annual meeting or visit the ACE Showcase at the annual meeting to schedule time. If space permits, we may add you to the schedule for open interviews. Job seekers are asked to visit the ACE Showcase to see if open interviews have been scheduled.

Q.  I have scheduled a Skype interview for a candidate that is not able to attend the annual meeting. Can we host a Skype interview in our booth at the interview center?

A. No. Due to the room setup, we need to be considerate of the noise level and courteous to other employers interviews. Out of respect for all parties, we ask that Skype interviews be conducted outside of the ACE Showcase.
