Due to increasing COVID case rates, the 2022 Department Leaders Summer Institute is pivoting to virtual.
Registration for the 2022 Department Leaders Summer Institute, Anthropologically Informed Leadership for Equity and Accessibility, is now open, and is complimentary for partners in our Department Services Program.
The Department Leaders Summer Institute provides an opportunity for department leaders to have face-to-face conversations about the various challenges of administering a department and to share successful practices for dealing with these challenges.
The next Department Leaders Summer Institute will be held June 22–24, 2022 at Georgetown University in Washington, DC virtually, online.
The theme of this year’s institute is Anthropologically Informed Leadership for Equity and Accessibility, reflecting the particular insights that our discipline gives us for supporting DEI work, as well as the necessity of creating policies and workplace cultures that materially support these values. Participants will attend workshops and panel discussions, join in a variety of networking events, and will be invited to provide case studies from their own experience to contribute to our knowledge base on anthropology and academic leadership. Catered meals are included, as well as a visit to the AAA’s new traveling exhibition World on the Move: 250,000 Years of Human Migration.
