OARR: The Open Anthropology Research Repository has been transferred from a proprietary platform to the Public Knowledge Project's (PKP) open-source preprint server platform based at Simon Fraser University.
The new platform offers an improved submission process, with fewer steps and clearer instructions. Materials in any language can be housed in the repository, and multimedia files are now supported. Contents will be indexed using a newly developed taxonomy, improving the search of related materials.
The OARR is a global community server established to improve and accelerate the discovery and dissemination of anthropological work, including preprints, teaching materials, and papers and posters presented at disciplinary meetings worldwide in any language. This content can be uploaded and accessed by anyone without cost. In addition to serving as a repository, OARR also offers scholarly and professional societies a place to store historical documents that can be viewed by the public.
OARR will continue to serve as a resource for all anthropologists globally both to read and to post research. Its development has been guided by a global advisory group composed of members from AAA's sister societies, including the Royal Anthropological Institute, the World Anthropological Union the Society of American Anthropology, the Society for Applied Anthropology, the American Association of Biological Anthropologists, the Linguistic Society of America, and the American Association for Applied Linguistics.
