The Award

This need-based Award is for the purpose of supporting travel for up to two graduate and undergraduate students from Mexico, Central, and South America to the American Anthropological Association (AAA) annual meeting. Selected students will receive paid registration to the annual meeting and reimbursement travel to the annual meeting the total of which will not exceed $2,500 per awardee.

Nomination Requirements

To be eligible for this award, an applicant must:

  1. Be a citizen of Mexico, or any country in Central America or South America.
  2. Be enrolled in any bona fide program anywhere leading to a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree in anthropology at the time of application.
  3. Have a record of outstanding academic achievement
  4. Be a member of the American Anthropological Association at least one month prior to submitting an application.

This award has been postponed until 2022, when we expect that international travel to Seattle will be free from most public health restrictions. The deadline will be the same as the deadline for responding to the 2022 Call for Papers, with decisions made in time to register for in-person meeting attendance.
