The American Anthropological Association stands in solidarity with our distinguished colleague, Concordia University Professor Dr. Homa Hoodfar, who was imprisoned in Iran in early June and recently hospitalized as a result of her deteriorating health. The unjust accusations leveled against Professor Dr. Hoodfar are the result of a misunderstanding about anthropological scholarship and we petition the Iranian government for her immediate release. We also urge all diplomatic authorities to do everything in their power to secure Professor Dr. Hoodfar's release and safe passage home.
