Join us during Raising Our Voices, November 5th-14th, for 9 days of access featuring over 100 live streamed sessions, asynchronous content, and interactivity!
Decisions about Raising Our Voices submissions are around the corner, but go ahead and save the date for your accessibility support webinar! AAA will be requiring all participants to meet accessibility standards for both live-streamed and view-on-demand events. These webinars will take you through our accessibility requirements, recommendations, and what resources are available to help you prepare all your materials and host the most accessible event possible. All accepted participants will be individually invited to register for their appropriate webinar(s).
At least one participant from each event is expected to attend the webinars or review webinar materials. We recommend the attending participant to be the lead contributing participant(s) of your event, but invite everyone to join us for these webinars.
Real-Time (CART) Captioning will be available during these webinars. Webinars will be hosted on the Zoom Meetings platform. No slides will be used during the webinars, but screen sharing will take attendees through the resources available on the AAA website. Additional accommodations, such as ASL, may be requested during the webinar registration process, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible so we can support you.

We are pleased to announce the Raising Our Voices 2020 preliminary live-streamed events program at-a-glance. We invite you to review either of the two options as you plan to join us in November.
All live-streamed events will be recorded and available for future viewing by registrants, so you won’t miss out when two of your favorite sessions take place at the same time!
Asynchronous, pre-recorded content will also be available in the Raising Our Voices Virtual Platform, which will be live on Monday, November 2nd, before the live-streamed program begins. More information about view-on-demand content will be available at a later time.
We will host two types of events:
Our virtual event formats page includes additional information about submission types for both of the above event types.
The Annual Meeting traditionally includes other kinds of events and activities, such as special events, celebratory events, the Film and Media Festival, and professional development opportunities. Some of these events will also take place during the Raising Our Voices virtual series. As these additional events develop, we will announce them on this page.
As part of the Raising Our Voices Fall event series, we are hosting the launch edition of a topical event that also will become a regular feature of future Annual Meetings. The Kauffman Symposium on Anthropology and Entrepreneurship will feature research that has direct practical application in business and entrepreneurship, and addresses solutions to pressing environmental, economic, and social problems. Learn more about the Kauffman Symposium on Anthropology and Entrepreneurship, including the details of the abstract submission, review, and selection process.
Graduate students will attempt the impossible – present their Master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation in three-minutes or less. This juried competition will award cash prizes to the top 3 competitors. Raising Our Voices attendees can view contest entries as a part of the view-on-demand programming.
We are dedicated to make Raising Our Voices as accessible as possible so that as many participants as possible can meaningfully engage in these upcoming virtual events. Accessibility support costs account for 50% of the event series expenses. While registering, you have the choice to pay more and support these expenses by choosing one of the Registration and Subsidizing Accessibility Costs options.
Additionally, we invite all attendees to join us in supporting and implementing accessible practices. We have developed a number of resources for participants to successfully implement accessible practices, which primarily address auditory and visual access needs.
Learn more about what we are doing to make Raising Our Voices more accessible and what you can do too by reviewing the accessible practices we have outlined for the event.
If your event was accepted, congratulations! Make sure to check out what accessible practices are required and expected for your event. Our accessibility tips, tricks, and tools page can help you determine what resources will be most helpful to you when preparing your presentation.
Raising Our Voices 2020 will include a unique opportunity for exhibitors and sponsors to network, showcase products / services, and meet potential clients. This year we will offer a variety of options for participating with us virtually, including booths, sponsorships, and advertising. We have exciting new features and upgrades, such as video chatting with attendees, giveaway buttons, and PDF and website links. Find more information about these opportunities on our exhibits page!
