Congratulations to AAA members honored with awards at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Society for Applied Anthropology in Philadelphia!
Linda Whiteford, professor of anthropology at the University of South Florida and chair of the AAA’s Resource Development Committee, is the 2018 recipient of the Sol Tax Distinguished Service Award presented annually to a member of SfAA, in recognition of long-term and truly distinguished service to the Society.
The SfAA also holds an annual student research competition in the applied social and behavioral sciences. The award honors the late Peter Kong-ming New, a distinguished medical sociologist-anthropologist and former president of the SfAA. The award is given to the best paper which reports on an applied research project in the social/behavioral sciences. This year’s first place winner is Rebecca Bedwell from the University of Arizona.
AAA member Sameena Mulla, the most recent recipient of the Margaret Mead Award offered jointly by the AAA and the SfAA, was also honored at the meeting.
