AAA joins the global anthropological community in mourning the passing of Bruno Latour, whose observations about the social positioning of scientific institutions influenced a generation of critical scholarship. AAA recognized Latour for his work by awarding him the 2014 Distinguished Lecturer, one of the many awards and accolades he received over a long career with Sciences Po and then the University College of London. Regarded as one of the great philosophical innovators of our time, Bruno Latour was especially important in the fields of political ecology and science and technology studies, aiming to rebuild trust in the social sciences. His life's work, and his many contributions to and for anthropology, will continue to influence us for generations.
